Average Hourly Earnings Decrease 0.4%, CPI Increases 0.6% in July

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that average hourly earnings for all employees decreased 0.4 percent from June to July 2020. This result stems from an increase of 0.2 percent in average hourly earnings being more than offset by an increase of 0.6 percent in the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Real average hourly earnings increased 3.7 percent from July 2019 to July 2020.
