Real Average Hourly Earnings Increase 0.3% in September

Real average hourly earnings for all employees increased 0.3 percent from August to September. This result stems from a 0.3-percent increase in average hourly earnings combined with a 0.1-percent increase in the Consumer Price Index. Real average hourly earnings increased 0.5 percent, from September 2017 to September 2018. The change in real average hourly earnings combined with the 0.6-percent increase in the average workweek resulted in a 1.1-percent increase in real average weekly earnings over this period.
